An endless stream of vivid colour
A horde – bouncing, pulsating
A leader, arms outstretched,
Guiding their movements
My eyes
Scanning the naked skin
The perfect shapes, the freedom
Of their minds, their souls
Will I ever find you again?
In this mass, this multitude of hearts
Or were you just a part of my eternal reverie?
An endless wait for beauty
Now lost, now shattered
The Reality
Cannot stop my eyes from searching
From hoping,
That love is no longer forsaken
This is the first time. The first time I share the music I listen to every day. I’m no expert, no “Muso”. But damn, I love music, it’s shapes every part of my day, it keeps me sane, evokes moods I try to run away from. I’m not trying to reinvent the wheel here by posting music right now, I just want to share the beauty, the blues and the bass I listen to. Let’s be realistic, nobody has exactly the same tastes in life. We all just seem to float on in our own little bubbles of sound.
Speaking of bubbles, the first band I am featuring on this blog – Atlas Genius – make me want to prance around dandelion fields with an umbrella, blowing bubbles, smiling, loving, just living on the fumes of the catchy lyrics, the simple melodies.
They are an Australian band and the songs are literally meant to be listened to while rolling on beach sand. This is the ultimate summer band. Right now, I’m sitting with a hot water bottle wrapped around my belly and icicles forming on my nose. At the moment, it is rather cold down on the tip of Africa. But Atlas Genius, thank you, summer is not far away and you are bringing it closer with every second your new single “If So” bounces in my eardrums.
If you don’t believe me have a listen! Here is “If So” and another awesome track (with a slick lyric video) from 2012 called “Trojans”.
When the cold hard sun beats down upon my face
I see you in the corner of my eye
But just your outline, blurry in the glare
When I used to hold you in my everlasting grasp
I felt a mere feather
Blowing in the wind, faltering under my heavy touch
Would move, would wrestle free
Never truly with me
An icy wind blows now
It sends the dust into my eyes
Clouding that torturous glimpse of you
They all agree that you are gone
Now it is time for me to let go
And let you float
Float further and further away
Until this day ends
And this sun is overcome by the black of night
